PSP 2: Twice The Fun, Twice The Excitement
Gamers, mark you calendar this January 27 as something big is going to happen. According to reliable sources, Sony will unveil its PSP2 at a Tokyo press conference on the said date. The PSP 2’s launching has been the buzz of the gaming community for quite a while and now it seems like Sony will finally put all speculations to rest as it introduces the much awaited PSP 2.
The above image is just a fan-made concept of the PSP 2. Here’s another PSP 2 fan-made concept:
Initial rumors about the PSP2 has it that the Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation will announce the PSP 2 at Gamescon in Germany. Furthermore, the device will feature touch sensitive controls on the back of the device and is to be around the same size as the PSP-3000.
Sony has declined to comment on this matter but the Wall Street Journal had earlier published a story indicating that Sony is working on a device that mixes a game player, an e-book reader and a netbook computer, which many took as the PSP2. In addition, gaming website Kotaku.com has also wrote about the existence of Sony’s PSP2.
According to Kotaku.com, several reliable sources had confirmed that the PSP2 will carry the previously rumored touch panel on the back of the hardware. The touch panel is reportedly to look like a big mouse trackpad. Furthermore, the PSP2 will have dual analog sticks which is the tradition for Sony’s game controllers but not on PSP models. Kotaku also reported about the changes it the handheld console’s screen. “The screen itself is not only sharper than the current PSP’s, but about an inch larger. The larger screen means that the PSP2 will be larger as well. In the private meetings, Sony is touting the screen as “HD”,” wrote the website.
There were also rumors of built in 5 megapixel camera together with a front-facing one, a 3D capability– if Nintendo 3DS was able pull this off why can’t Sony, built-in memory – or SDHC/SDXC card compatibility, WiFi or 3G connection, none UMD feature, backward-compatibility –but obviously not with UMD-based games–, and finally the slider design.
Apparently, there has been two versions of the new PSP2 circulating on the net. One version slides open like the PSPgo, and another version is similar in shape to the regular PSP. Those are the fan-made prototypes/concepts that are “leaked” out earlier. The final revelation will be made on the 27th of this month.
