Kodak launches Playfull and Playsport camcorders
Looks like multinational corporation Kodak is not going to let other electronic giants elbow them out at the annual CES. Long known for its wide range of photographic film products, Kodak joins in the CES noise barrage as the company introduces their latest line of camcorder products: The Playsport and Playfull Camcorders
This slim ( 1.6 × 3.9 × 0.7 in and 95g) and chic video camera is a powerful minicamcorder with its 1 / 3.2–type 5 MP CMOS Sensor and 5 feature lens option (3.9 mm, 35 mm equivalent, 44 mm @ 1080p, 33 mm @ 720p, 33 mm @ WVGA, 33 mm still capture). It has a 4X digital zoon and display size of 1.5 inch.
The PLAYFULL Camcorder offers the widest selection of capture mode and capture effect. The camcorders 5 resolution options allows them to choose the best mode for them (1080p (16:9)—1920 x 1080, 30 fps/ 720p (16:9)—1280 x 720, 60 fps/ 720p (16:9)—1280 x 720, 30 fps/ WVGA (16:9)—848 x 480, 30 fps / still (16:9)—5.3 MP). PLAYFULL is also fully equip with a variety of capture effects such as vivid color, normal color, sepia, B&W, high saturation, and 1970’s film look.
The video camera, supporting all MPEG-4, AAC-LC, JPEG/EXIF v 2.21(still) file formats has a storage of 128 MB internal memory and SD/SDHC card expansion slot (up to 32 GB). The gizmo also sports 7 dedicated buttons to simplify everything. Its photo sharing destinations is compatible with FACEBOOK, FLICKR, KODAK Gallery, YouTube, TWITTER, ORKUT, etc…
If your like extreme, then this better be the camcorder of your choice. PLAYSPORT allows users to go anywhere and do anything with its fearless design. It is simply waterproof, dustproof, and shock proof.
According to Kodak’s site, PLAY SPORT can withstand up to 10 ft under water pressure for up to 2 hours. Its underwater white balance mode can give true-to-life colors in the pool or under the waves. PLAYSPORT’s rugged design is also touted as supreme as even the muddiest, dustiest, and sandiest are no match to this “tough guy”. PLAYSPORT can also take a fall from 5 ft.
Kodak has also release a limited edition of PLAYSPORT. The KODAK PLAYSPORT Video Camera, BURTON Edition was styled after Burton’s celebrated Custom Flying V 154 board. It has bold color and an exaggerated pixel-esque design, giving a nod to the loads of digital technology built inside.
The said video camera comes complete with everything you need to shoot and share your runs, including sweet extras like a custom designed camera holster to attach the camera to your boot, leg or arm, a 4 GB SDHC memory card to catch up to 80 minutes of HD video and a remote control to start and stop recording from a distance, or to review your videos on your HDTV from the comfort of your couch.
The two Playsport camcorder differs just slightly in terms of specs. One the sensor type for the limited edition is a 1 / 2.5–type 5 MP CMOS while the original version is 1 / 3.2–type 5 MP CMOS. Overall, however, they work just about the same.
